Entry 001 - Making the Diary Developer Vlog

It took me around 10 hours but I finally finished producing the first episode of the Video Log. I started early in the morning to get some sunlight, then it was all about shooting with the preparations from last night. Once everything was recorded, I had to see through the material and then cut it.

Oh yeah and I played some games and looked through some files to get additional footage for the final video such as game- and videoclips. Not to mention the creation of a small atmospherical level for SPLIT since my old dummy map somehow broke.

Welcome to SPLIT

Hello and welcome to the official SPLIT Blog.

If you're interested in game development, this Blog is your place to stay. Almost every day I will share the current process of the game SPLIT in the most interesting and transparent way possible. You'll be getting an inside of all the steps necessary to create a game from simple scripting to storytelling, game mechanics and so on. The feature within this very Blog will be your participation: you can comment and help shaping the game. If you have any ideas or even tips just let me know by posting a comment.

SPLIT Game (early shot)

SPLIT is a first person puzzle platformer for the PC based on the Unreal Engine 4, made from scratch (or almost). The main feature will be the players ability to switch between Dimension at any time reshaping space and time for the current situation. This and many other game mechanics such as Energy Induction, PushJumps, Slowmotion and SplitVision will create refreshingly new puzzles and jump & run sequences.

SPLIT Game - VR (early shot)

Another specialty is that SPLIT will feature full VR support out of the box. Since I've been working with stereoscopy for quite some time the game will benefit from my knowledge to create an even more astonishing and immersive gaming experience.

SPLIT Player Entity (wip)

What has happened so far? I created the base project, wrote the basic story, prototyped game mechanics and started working on the style and some assets. More information on previous steps will follow soon, same as the very first Developer Diary Video, a format that will go hand in hand with this Blog.
